The
Itaqui Port Complex is located at São Marcos
Bay at the city of São Luis, Capital of the Maranhão
state, 11km away from downtown.
São
Luis was founded by the French in 1612, and colonized
by the Portuguese.
Its
overall population is 860.000 inhabitants. The temperature
varies between 21ºC to 32ºC. The Local Time:
G.M.T. is minus 3 (three) hours, or minus 2 on Summer
time.
Itaqui
Port
The
Organized Port of Itaqui disposes of 6 berths with depth
between 9.00 and 19.00 meters at low tide, and hold
adequate installations for loading and unloading operations
of solid and liquid bulks, general cargos and containers.
It
is located between parallels 02º34' S and 02º36'
S and meridians 44º21' W and 44º24' W.
The
area is administrated by EMAP - Empresa Maranhense de
Administração Portuária. It is
limited to the northeast by the line connecting the
Tatinga Bridge to the mainland with geographic limited
coordinates: Latitude 02º 23' 30'' S, Longitude
04º 23'10'' W; to São Marcos Bridge on São
Luis island with coordinates: Latitude 02º 29'12''
S and Longitude 44º 18' 15'' W to the by the parallel
at latitude 3º 00'00'' S; to the east by the coast
line of island of São Luis; and to west by the
coast of the mainland adjacent to São Marcos
bay.
The
port of Itaqui offers 367 meters of quay built on steel
gabion piles 15.20 meters in diameter and covered with
reinforced concrete reaching 9.03 meters above low water
mark. An extension of this quay in a northerly direction
has been concluded and handed over to the extinguished
CODOMAR - Maranhão Docks Company. The quay has
been increased by 270 meters. The extension is built
on top of concrete tubing reinforced with steel jacketing
measuring 2.1 meters in diameter. Which was dug in means
of rotating bore to depths averaging 35meters. The overall
linear length of presently-built quay is 1.617 meters.
01
- Drafts restriction
·
Quay 101 à 09,00 meters and 239 meters of length.
· Quay 102 à 10,50 meters and 239 meters
of length
· Quay 103 à 13,00 meters and 239 meters
of length
· Quay 104 à 14,00 meters and 200 meters
of length
· Quay 105 à 18,00 meters and 280 meters
of length (Actually leased for CVRD)
· Quay 106 à 19,00 meters and 420 meters
of length (Actually leased for Petrobrás)
02
- Length restriction
There
are no restrictions regarding the length of the vessel
since its size does not exceed the quay length. If this
occurs, we will depend on the previous authorization
from the Docks Company.
03
- Beam restriction
There
are no restrictions regarding the beam of the vessel.
However, for vessels over 18 meters wide, we will have
some difficulty to reach the starboard/port side of
the vessel (depending on which side alongside), because
the shore cranes available ashore have maximum reach
of 15 meters.
04
- Available Shore Equipments
- 03
cranes with safe weight lift of 3,2 tons, with reach
of 15 meters and air draft of 18 meters, considering
that one of those cranes is completely out of use.
These cranes are disposed in the following way:
- 02 in south quay.
- 01 in the north quay, considering that these cranes
can also assist vessels berthed at central quay,
-
02 cranes with safe weight lift of 6,3 tons, with
reach of 15 meters and air draft of 18 meters, considering
that these cranes are situated in the central quay,
and can also assist vessels berthed at north pier
